In this grammar course, the series of lessons will explore the four word classes of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs and their purpose and impact in writing. The student will also learn the purpose and rules of using expanded noun phrases and will practice writing them. They will explore ‘being verbs’, learn how to identify the forms of the verb ‘to be’ in sentences and look at plural and singular forms of the verb ‘to be’. The student will also explore prepositions of place and time and will learn how to identify when to use the prepositions ‘at’ ‘in’ and ‘on’ in relation to time. Finally, they will explore joining or coordinating conjunctions used in compound sentences.
This course comprises of five lessons and is designed for students in grades 4 to 6. It combines education and fun in the form of several pieces of interactive content dispersed throughout the various lessons.
At the end of the course the student should know the four word classes and their purpose and impact in writing; how to use expanded noun phrases; and how to identify when to use the prepositions ‘at’ ‘in’ and ‘on’ in relation to time.
