This science course is designed to introduce the student to the discipline of Physics – looking at states of matter and particles.
Throughout the course the student will learn about the three states of matter, the properties of each state of matter and how to identify which state of matter a substance is in.
The student will explore the arrangement of particles in the states of matter and the particles response to being heated or cooled. They will also be introduced to the concept of non-Newtonian fluids and their properties.
This course comprises of six lessons and is designed for students in grades 4 to 6. It combines education and fun in the form of several pieces of interactive content dispersed throughout the various lessons. There is also an experimental part in the form of practical experiments.
At the end of this course the student should know how to identify which state of matter a substance is in. Say what changes of state are and explain why they take place, identify the fixed points of a substance – the melting and boiling points and discuss the behavior of a least one substance that does not fit into just one state of matter.
